Jack Antaramian, a dedicated Neapolitan and talented developer. The Naples horizon would not look the same without Jack Antaramian’s touch.
Antaramian is originally from the blue collar community of Watertown, Massachusetts. His first job came at the tender age of 11 and was followed by a series of labor intensive jobs that instilled a solid work ethic. In his senior year of high school he quit to enlist in the army and was honorably discharged two years later. He then worked his way up from janitor to manager of the seafood department at a local grocery store.
Antaramian then transitioned into the construction field pouring concrete and renovating old homes. Soon after, he began his development business by borrowing $5,000. He specialized in what would one day become a very popular concept – mixed used development. He often combined residential projects with commercial projects, quickly gaining respect from city officials, residents, and business owners alike because he focused on what they needed in order to become successful.
Antaramian moved to Southwest Florida in 1985 and quickly opened Marco Beach Realty and began his first project: a 28-unit condo called Dockside, which gained him respect in the development and real estate industry.
In the early 1990s he focused his talents to help rejuvenate the then-stagnant and inactive Fifth Avenue South business district to become as bustling as the Third Street South district. He purchased the 300 block building, Colony Court, and remodeled the façade to update the architecture adding a classic Mediterranean look to the street. He then converted the building to a three story building with a residential component that proved to be successful for the district. He also redeveloped many other buildings along the Avenue.
Additionally, Antaramian purchased the land and developed the Naples Bay Resort property.
Further south, Antaramian developed many residential, commercial, and mixed use properties on Marco Island: Cape Marco Condominiums, Pier 81, Yacht Club Marina, Esplanade Shoppes, and the Residences and Marina on Smokehouse Bay. Between Southwest Florida and Massachusetts, Jack and his company have successfully completed more than 30 projects.
Antaramian is leaving a long legacy of philanthropy, quality developments and strong reputation. He is survived by his wife, and five children.
