Part One of a series of photographs of interesting architecture from around the world. In this part I focus on public buildings such as theaters, stadiums, and commercial buildings.
The Atomium – Brussels
Constructed for the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels, The Atomium represents an iron crystal magnified 165,000,000,000 times.
The Bullring – Birmingham, England
The Bullring is actually a shopping mall. Sure beats our Coastland Center!
The Cucumber Building – London
Known as "The Cucumber" (that's Gherkin in British English), this unual building is one of London's most famous office towers.
National Stadium – Beijing
Called the "Bird's Nest", this interesting stadium was built for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Nation Center for Performing Arts – Beijing
This building is known as the "Birds Egg". Not sure if it was intentional, but it seems to fit Beijing's theme nicely.
Tenerife Auditorium – Canary Islands, Spain
The Tenerife Auditorium, located on the largest of Spain's Canary Islands
Olympic Stadium – Montreal
Primary stadium of the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal.
The Eden Project – England
The plastic domes of the Eden Project in Cornwall house artificial biomes.
